Room 4 Zoo Trip

It was a bright and sunny day. Mrs Thomson had said, “We are going on a zoo trip.” That was the day.
When we were at the zoo, Mum had to take  Emily, Quinn, Laekin and me through the zoo.
When we got to the map, I asked to see the giraffes. Mum said, “Later, because the giraffes are at the end." so we went to see the spider monkeys. Swoop! One swooped past on a long rope.
After we saw the red pandas and the bird show, we went to the tall giraffes. I ran. A giraffe walked over to me because I had my giraffe hat on and I was standing on a big fence.
We then went to  go see the smelly grey rhino. Quinn really wanted to see it.The enclosure had a ground with branches.
We went to the classroom to learn about animals. I saw some fish and lots of dead animals. I looked up and I saw a skeleton of a horse. It was scary.
I had fun at the zoo and I hope I can go back again.

The Rhino

It was a sunny afternoon. Anne and Rex decided to walk to the zoo to see some rhinos. They went to the rhino den.
Anne said, " I am going to take a selfie with the rhinos."
"Oh no, you don't," said Rex, "you will fall in."
"Well, I am going to take a selfie if you like it or not."
So she leaned back.
Bang!! She dropped her phone. It hit her chest and down she went into the rhino den.
"REX HELP!!!!"
"Do not move!" said Rex, "or they will charge, and with one swipe of the horns, it will be the end."
"What do you mean by the end?" said Anne.
"You do not want know," he said . "I will go and find  a zookeeper."
"NO!! I will get in trouble if you do," she said.
"OK. What should I do?"
"Go find a rope," said Anne, so Rex set off to find a rope. He looked everywhere but not in the zoo keepers' staff  room.
"I am going to have to sneak in," he said to himself. “Oh no, the door is locked, but a window is open.”
He walked over to the open window and climbed inside. He looked on the soft old chair and found a long green rope. He quickly grabbed the rope and ran to his sister. "Here is the rope."
He threw the rope down to Anne. She climbed out.
"Thank you, Rex, you saved me. Let's go and get chocolate ice cream and forget about the incident."

Guy Fawkes

It was a cold Friday night. Our family decided to go to Guy's Guy Fawkes party. I was very bored because I was waiting for Paige to come.
When she got to the party, we ran to the bonfire, then we helped Guy set up the small fireworks. When finally the sky grew dark, the firemen came because they were crazy and we set them  off together.
Bang! The first one went off.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Another four colourful bright fireworks lit up the night sky.
Quinn was screaming at me. A fire work hit my face. I said, "Whatever!" because I know it wasn't thrown because they set off in the sky, not on the ground.
Bang! Another six went off. Quinn was saying let's go under shelter. I screamed, "NO!!" because I wasn't scared.
When it was done, we were all screaming, "More! More! More!"  Would you be screaming more if you were there?

The Water Slide

It was a hot summer day. There was hardly a breeze.
I was standing in front of a rushing blue water slide. I was feeling scared.

I sat down on the cold hard water slide.

Before I knew it, I was sliding down. I went so fast . Then I started to scream then laugh.
I went up and down on the bumpy bumps.
Ouch the bumps hit back. Side to side I went on the sharp twisty corners . SPLASH!!!! I hit the bottom the deep pool .
"That was fun," I said to myself as I ran up the concrete hill for my next turn.

Production

Have you heard about the amazing production that St Paul's put on. You will never believe it. It all started 6 weeks ago when I found out the characters. I was so excited when I heard I was a penguin and I had to do a penguin dance.
About 3 weeks after I found that I was a penguin, I found out that I was a giraffe, too.
Last night, I was so nervous. I had to do the penguin dance. When I got on stage, I waited for the 4 clicks and, when I heard the 4th  click, I started to dance. At the start, the penguins were out of time but at the end of the dance, I was so hot because of the lights, but I had fun.

Food For Dinner

I think we should have fish and chips for dinner.
Everybody likes it. If I had a friend over and she did not like what we had for dinner, she would have to eat a sandwich, but, if we had fish and chips, she would have gobbled it up.
No one has to cook because it is a take away and we don't have to worry about dishes. All we have to do is put paper in the bin.
My third reason is that it is easy to clean up because all you have to do is screw up  the paper and throw it in the bin.
Conclusion I hope you like my reasons for why we should have fish and chips for dinner.

THE MAGIC SHOW

Last Friday our school went into the hall to watch a magic show.
My favourite was when Hunter Rose went up onto the stage El Grego gave her a small wand and said to wave the wand over the box and say it better work!
It did not work so El Grego said, "How old are you?"
“10.”
So El Grego said, "Get me a bigger wand." So his  wife, Sue, gave Hunter Rose a bigger wand.
El Grego said, "Wave the wand over the box and say it better work."
It did not work.
El Grego said, "Get me a bigger wand," so Sue gave Hunter Hose a bigger wand.
She waved it over the box and said, "It better work," and it did. A bird came out. It was green.

Poem - Don't Be A Bully

Don't be a bully. It will make you cry.
I was once bullied. It was not fun
Bullies are mean and, if you are a bully, you are not kind
If you are a bully, you will not have good friends
Don't be a bully. Bullies are losers so don't be a bully!
Bullies are mean so don't be a bully
Bullies are losers.
Kind people are lovely so be kind
Bullies will hurt you and make you cry
I was bullied. Bullies made me cry
I hate bullies.

Easter

Today is Easter.
When I woke up, I was very excited. Emily said, "Look! We have big Easter eggs on our comfy beds.
We woke up Olivia and Dad. We walked  outside in our colourful warm pyjamas to look for Easter Eggs.
I said, "I can't find some Easter eggs out here," so we looked inside. Mum helped look. Emily found some on the brown table. We put one in our big Easter Eggs bucket then we looked for some more. Emily, Olivia and I found more.
"What kind?" said Emily.
"Marshmallow."
"Cool," said Olivia.
We ran to look for more. I found some more marshmallow. We ran inside to eat up our yummy Easter Eggs.

Holy Thursday Liturgy

Holy Thursday Liturgy

It was now the time of Passover. Jesus’ followers came to Him and said, “We will go and prepare everything for the Passover Feast. Where do you want to eat the feast?” Jesus answered, “Go into the city. A man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. He will go into a house. Tell the owner of the house, “The teacher wants you to prepare the room for the Passover meal.” So the followers left and went into the city and prepared the Passover Feast.
In the evening, Jesus went to that house with the twelve. While they were eating, Jesus took the bread and gave God thanks and praise. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and eat it; this is my body which will be given up for you.”

When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave God thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and drink from it; this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.”

After some time, Jesus got up from the table and went to a different part of the room.  He put a large towel around him, making himself look like a servant.  After that, he poured water into a large bowl and began to wash the disciples' feet.  He then dried them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.

When Jesus had finished washing all of the disciples’ feet, he returned to the table.  "Do you understand what I have done for you?"  Jesus asked them.
Jesus is like a King - but even greater than a king, He's the King of Kings!  By washing the disciples’ feet, He was doing something that only a servant would do.
This is an example of how you should treat others.  You don't have to actually wash other people's feet, but do kind things to others and act like a servant for Jesus.

Live Simply Day

Today is Live Simply Day. We live Live Simply Day so that we can stand in solidarity with the poor people in our world. To live simply means to go without everything except the things we need to survive. We don't need toasters, or cars or bikes or computers.

Hot Air Balloons

On hot air balloon day, the school walked to the cold grassy field to watch the hot air balloon inflate. The balloon was yellow, orange and red.
Mrs Thomson was the first to ride Wildfire. After Mrs Thomson, Mr Keogh went on. It was funny because Karen said, “How much money will you pay me if I keep the principal in the air?”
After Mrs Thomson and Mr Keogh had a ride, the school got to have a ride. Quinn was first. She told me that she was excited. I was next. I climbed into the basket. I was very excited. I think I went very high but the boys said I  was going low. The man put on the flames. The flames made hot air go into the big balloon. It was very scary and I looked over the cane basket and saw all the people on the ground looking like ants.
I had fun.

Swimming Sports

Yesterday, our school had our swimming sports at the Ngaruawahia Town Pools.
When the breaststroke was on, the 8 year old girls and boys and I waited to get in the pool. It was tense waiting for the whistle to go. Mr K raised his arm and said, “Ready, set.”

He blew the whistle. We were off. Quinn and I were in the lead. Quinn won. We were happy.
Quinn and I had fun. It was Awesome!!

Honey Bees

What I found out: A bee eats the pollen and spits it out and the pollen goes into honey and it stores it in a hive.
